Art Club was a blast, as usual! We painted screen printed tote bags and tshirts. We created pots and planted grass in them. We painted with sand, created a relief sculpture on metal, explored more screen printing, and drew in sketch books.

Wow!! Art Club fliers went went home last week and 1st and 2nd grade art club is already full. There are still a few spots open for 3rd and 4th grade, as of Jan 26th. Unfortunately, we are limited by space.
By popular demand, we will certainly be working with clay. We will also be working with other materials not normally used in class. The structure for art club is loose, giving the art club members more choice and opportunity to explore and express themselves. Art club has been so much fun! We created clay bowls, screen printed shirts, painted canvas, and did printmaking. Next semester we will do more creative art making! This group of art club kiddos created a bowl for Empty Bowls, a fundraiser for the community, held at the middle school. The bowl will be auctioned off to raise money for the cause! It's great to use our art making skills to make a difference in our community. Art club is starting mid-October. Both 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th grade groups are full! How awesome! Looking forward to all the creativity.
Art Club artists tried out photography. We worked on capturing interesting perspectives.
Each kiddo took a selfie, and their photographs follow. Art club is structured so that the kids have as much creative freedom as possible. I may provide a material and technique, but then it's up to the kiddo to take it from there. We started with clay the first week! The kids have been asking for it! Art Club is back! Art Club starts at the end of March. Please sign up before March 11. Due to space limitations, sign up is limited to 25 artists per age group.
I will be on maternity leave until the week before Thanksgiving.
Look for updates on Art Club in early December. Thank you for your support. Art club is a wonderful way for all the talented artists at Marshall Elementary to keep exploring and creating. 3rd and 4th grade art club ended with party of endless snacks and painting instruments. K-2nd grade art club finished up with a party too! They created chandeliers inspired by Dale Chihuly, a famous glass artist. Thank you to parents and students for making both sessions of art club a huge success! I know I had a TON of fun! I will keep everyone updated on art club for next year. |
